SEVERN BEACH’S COLOURFUL PAST
Once a lively seaside resort in the early 20th century, Severn Beach was home to the famous Blue Lagoon swimming pool, a boating lake, and even donkey rides! By 1922, it had become a popular getaway for Bristol locals, drawn in by its relaxed licensing laws. The legendary Beachcomber Club, with its striptease performances in the '60s, is still fondly remembered by those who once frequented it. In 2022, Severn Beach celebrated its 100th anniversary with many vibrant events, paying tribute to its rich legacy.
Today, although many of the old attractions have been replaced by new housing developments, Severn Beach still offers stunning views of the two impressive bridges crossing the River Severn. With charming local cafés, shops, and a welcoming community, Severn Beach remains a wonderful place to live, work, and explore. The SevernFest is on our doorstep in July.
